April 16, 2015 — London, Ont. — Hundreds of people attended a memorial service Thursday evening to mark Yom HaShoah – Holocaust Remembrance Day – to honour the victims of the Holocaust.
Tim Uppal, Minister of State (Multiculturalism), was the keynote speaker at the memorial service, which was hosted by the London Jewish Federation. Yom HaShoah is Israel’s day of commemoration for Holocaust victims. London’s Jewish community includes many Holocaust survivors and their descendants.
Minister Uppal stressed the importance of education and remembrance of one of the worst atrocities in human history and voiced concerns about the disturbing rise of anti-Semitism around the world. He was joined at the memorial by Susan Truppe, Member of Parliament for London North Centre.
