Quebec Releases Updated Processing Fees for 2017

Quebec’s Ministère de l’Immigration, de la Diversité et de l’Inclusion (Ministry of Immigration, Diversity and Inclusion, or MIDI) has announced the updated processing fees for applications to Quebec for permanent immigration and temporary stays. The new rates come into force on January 1, 2017.

Since 1991, Quebec has had the freedom to select its own immigrants and temporary residents. Individuals interested in moving to Quebec permanently through an economic program are required to submit an application for a Quebec Selection Certificate (CSQ) before applying to the federal government for permanent residence. Most individuals wishing to work or study in Quebec are required to first apply to the provincial government of Quebec for a Quebec Acceptance Certificate (CAQ) before later applying to the federal government for a work or study permit.

Quebec updates its fees every year for each category. MIDI states that the adjustment in fees is determined by a percentage corresponding to the increase in Quebec’s consumer price index for the period ending September 30, 2016. The updated fees for the year 2017 are based on an increase of 0.74 percent.
