the following statement to mark the celebration of Christmas by Christians observing the Julian calendar:

Catholic Churches who are celebrating Christmas this week.“For Christians, there are few days on the calendar more significant and more festive than this
annual celebration of the Nativity of Jesus Christ.“For all Canadians, this important holiday provides an excellent opportunity to reflect on the importance
of faith and hope.“During this season of joy and goodwill, as Minister of Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism, I offer my most sincere wishes
for a peaceful and merry Christmas, and a happy, hopeful and prosperous new year.”
